2. Rotation Strategy

Most blow bars can be used in 2 or 4 positions:

  • 2-position: Rotate 180° when leading edge shows 40–50% wear
  • 4-position: Rotate 90° at each interval for more uniform wear

Key rule: Never wait until wear exceeds 60% before rotating — the profile becomes too distorted for effective crushing.

3. Rotor Maintenance

A worn rotor directly reduces blow bar life:

  • Rotor tip speed: Worn rotor discs change the tip speed, affecting impact energy
  • Bearing condition: Excessive vibration from worn bearings causes uneven wear
  • Liner condition: Worn impact plates change the material trajectory, concentrating wear on one area

Replace blow bars when:

  • Leading edge wear reaches 50–60% of original thickness
  • Cracking extends more than 1/3 of the bar width
  • Throughput drops more than 15% with same feed rate
  • Product size distribution shifts significantly
